~ Eid Collection No. 2 ~

Well this is my second collection of Eid cards in aid of the Pakistan Flood Appeal. The cards are being sold at our local restaurant and so far 4 have gone! Woo hoo!

The background panels have been made using Woodware Indian clear stamps and a variety of different coloured ink pads. I must admit that these aren't really my favourites but I did think they were quite child friendly and less religious looking.

Hope everyone's had a good day back at work, I'm still on nights so probably in bed as you read this.

~ Eid Collection No.1 ~

Some of you may be aware that I asked a question a while back about suggestions for Eid cards. Well after much consideration I started to make them. As they are for charity, I have tried to use up old stash and have kept the quite simple. So with out further ado here is the 1st collection of cards:

This was the only photo of a mosque silhouette I could find that didn't appear to have copyright on it.

This is one of my favourites as the swirl was already on the piece of patterned paper and it has just added a little elegant touch to the card especially after I added some stickles to it.

Another simple yet very effective card. Not sure what the paper is but it looked like an Indian style to me.

Keep your eyes peeled as I will be posting more collections over the next few days along with the start of Shimelle Laine's Class - Learn somthing new everyday.

I hope everyon has had a lovely bank holiday and although you may be back at work tomorrow, just remember one good thing - its only a 4 day week! Unfortunately being a nurse we don't have those luxuries, so off to work on nights tonight!

~ WOYWW ~

A desk @ my home from home! Well you may have noticed that over the last few weeks there has been a lack of crafty blog posts well this photo reveals all. I am currently staying at my boyfriends house as his family have gone away for 3 weeks.

Not much happening on his desk this week, just me "taking over" and the minibooks I put together at the weekend. I look forward to looking at everyones's desks over the course of today. Am at work this afternoon so will have to get loads in this morning!

~ A little organisation .. ~

Well as I mentioned yesterday its nearly time for Shimelle's Learn something new everyday class (LSNED) so I decided to join in but go for a small project and to get organised before it starts. So here goes...

So the mini book is going to be made from C6 brown envelopes with one side being used per day. I decided to make a template so I don't have to measure them each day to create a layout.

On alternate days (when the page includes the envelope opening) a card tag insert will also be included.

So to get organised I have already done my front cover, stuck the flaps inside some envelopes and cut out some tag inserts from cardstock.

Here is my front cover using up some of my kits from Cleocrafts. I am really looking forward to this class and hoping that Shimelle's class will give my mojo a massive boost, although it has been pretty good recently!

Happy Crafting!

~ A little sticking together ~

Well I can't honestly say that these took much skill however, the instructions were not the clearest! About a year ago I bought a massive scrapbooking/cardmaking kit from QVC which included these 3 minibooks. I think these may be made in to decorated books so my friends can add photos of their Christmas.

I have been thinking about doing Shimelle Laine's class Learn Something New Everyday in September so I might have to think about getting a little organised as last year was abit of a flop.

Happy Crafting!

~ More food... ~

Well this weekend has revolved around food! Today we went to one of our favourite restaurants for lunch, Loch Fyne in Sheffield. We both had the chance to have some of our favourite foods. We both had calamari to start and then I had marinated king prawns for main and my boyfriend had mussels. We both got very messy picking our food to pieces. I can visualise a 'favourites' layout with these photos.

Loch Fyne has restaurants all over the country I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys seafood, although it can work out quite pricey.

Bon apeptit!

~ On this night of a thousand stars... ~

Last night we had some friends round for a Spanish themed evening which included a huge menu of tapas (I'm getting withdrawl symptons for not being in the kitchen today as I have been for 2 days before!). The evening included a spanish quiz (in spanish!) and listening to spanish music courtesy of you tube and the Bueno Vista Social Club.

I have a few very amusing photos which I am sure will be turned in to a couple of layouts.

~ A warm welcome ~

Well I must admit that although this layout was quite simple to put together using the sketch over on Sketches: Creatively Yours I have really stretched myself by actually doodling straight on to the page! Argh! However, I am really pleased with how it turned out.

The photos show the Welcome ceremony @ the guiding world centre Sangam, India. Each participant of the event is welcomed in a traditional Indian ceremony which includes have rice thrown over your head, being blessed with a nut and lighting a wick on the lamp seen in the bottom photos.

As an extra little touch I have used some gemstone bindis that I bought on a shopping spree in India.

Happy Scrapping Everyone!

~ Christmas is on the way... ~

Its only 129 days until Christmas!

Have you all started your Christmas cards?

Well I have to admit that this year I am well on the ball with my Christmas shopping. I hate leaving it to the last minute and not being able to add a creatuve touch to them so this year I plan to have most of it done by the end of November so I can spend time fiddling with bows and creating tags to match. So far I have done 8 cards which is better than last year.

I love Christmas but this year I will probably have to work Christmas day which I'm not really looking forward to!

Keep your eyes peeled over the next few weeks for christmas sneak peeks!

~ Any ideas? ~

I have been asked to make some handmade Eid cards for the end of Ramadan. The proceeds of the cards will be going to charity so I need to make them nice but cost effective. Last year I made sunset backgrounds using Encaustic art and the cut out a mosque silhouette to lay over the top but I'm really struggling this year to come up with any ideas. Has anyone any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

~ A kids film for adults ~

Well last week we went to see the new Toy Story Film, and I can honestly say I haven't laughed at a film quite so much in a while. My boyfriend and I risked looking abit sad by going to see it without taking any children, but thankfully so had most of the other guests.

Synopsis: Andy is now 17 and ready to head off to college, leaving Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and the rest of the toy-box gang to ponder their uncertain futures. When the toys are accidentally donated to the Sunnyside Daycare center they're initially overjoyed to once again be played with, but their enthusiasm quickly gives way to horror as they discover the true nature of the establishment under the rule of the deceptively welcoming "Lotso" Bear. Now, all of the toys must band together in one final, crazy scheme to escape their confines and return home to Andy.

I would recommend this to anyone especially those who were fans of the 2 previous Toy Story films and a definate school holiday outing for those with kids. Its a good hearted, child friendly, humourous film that reminds you of your own childhood.

Over the last few weeks I have seen a few good films but as far as kids films go this one is the best, it keeps your attention for the whole film and doesn't make you look at your watch until the end.

Enjoy!

~ Where has the week gone? ~

Well this week seems to have flown by without a minute to spare. I didn't even manage to post my creation for the Sketches:Creatively Yours challenge. So here it is:

I cut up a gorgeous sheet of Websters paper to get this beautiful well design. I wanted to keep the card simple so it can be used as a general all purpose card. I love haw the little dots of stickles just add a little dimension and the stickles on the rope highlight it.

Hopefully I will have more crafting for you soon.

~ Well I'm back to the land of the living ~

Hi everyone,

Well I'm back home from my week camping and fully back in to the swing of things! So keep your eyes peeled for a few posts of new projects this week.

Camp was amazing, we had participants from 42 different countries and it was great to see everyone enjoying themselves.

I will also be reviewing the new Toy Story film at the end of the week, if you've already seen it let me know what you think. Great film to keep the kids entertained this summer holiday.

Happy Crafting!

~ A quick post to tell you why I'm not around this week! ~

Well since Friday I have been at girlguidng UK's Centenary Camp at Harewood house along with 5,000 others!

There is a fab article in todays Yorkshire Post hop over to see what the girls have been up to.

My task starts on Tuesday when over 600 Brownies descend on camp for their Brownie Sleepover before Fusion. Am a little worried they may struggle to put the tents up but am sure they will have great fun!

There will be lots of photographs perfect for scrapping when I come back - I really must start doing my Centenary Scrapbook, I have so much to put in it.

Hope everyone has a great week, I'll be home friday with an update.
